My mom’s great! She’s smart and funny, warm and personable, hard-working and charitable, to name just a few of her traits. I like to think maybe I’ve inherited a few of these characteristics. I, however, also get my self-deprecating nature from her. I shy away from cameras. It takes every ounce of energy possible to accept a compliment with a smile instead of negating it with humor. So in an attempt to introduce you to my mom, yet spare her the glaring spotlight of a formal interview, I have created the following faux interview to introduce you to my mom. After all, she is my WeeKnit partner in crime.
Q: So Tracy, tell us a little bit about what you do.
A: Well, some businesses have C.E.O.s and C.E.E.s. Here at WeeKnit I’m what I would consider the C.K.I. That’s right – I’m the Chief Knitwit In Charge. I design and create numerous knit items.
Q: What types of knit items?
A: Oh, I’ve made hats, slippers, and baby booties. I make holiday items like my Easter Egglets and Christmas Stockings. But the bulk of my time is spent on my extensive line of finger puppets.
Q: Fantastic. Now can you tell us a little bit about your personal life?
A: Hmmm… I live in Pleasant View, Utah. I’ve been married for (muffled sound inserted here) years. I keep busy with my 8 children and 7 grandchildren.
Q: Eight children! How do you manage?
A: Like I said, I’m a knitwit. When I was young, I had no children and lots of theories. Now I have lots of children and no theories. I’ve learned life is easier if you take it day by day.
Q: So here’s our last and probably most important question – with 8 children, which is the favorite?
A: Oh without a doubt, Jenny!
Okay, can you blame me for taking a little bit of license. If you could put words in your mom’s mouth, wouldn’t you? Hope you enjoyed my faux interview and meeting my mom, the C.K.I.
